Political Economy is a core compulsory course for undergraduates majoring in economics. Its purpose is to enable students to have a firm grasp of the basic principles of Marxist political economy, have a deep understanding of contemporary capitalism and socialism, and build socialism with Chinese characteristics under the guidance of scientific theories. Founded in 1953, the course has lasted for 66 years and embodies the unremitting pursuit and efforts of three generations of managers. Entering the 21st century, the course has embarked on a new journey. In 2003, the course was selected as one of the first provincial quality courses in Guangdong. In 2013, it was approved as the quality Resource sharing course in Guangdong Province, and won the "Excellent" grade in the acceptance in 2017. This selection into the national first-class undergraduate course makes the construction of political Economy a new step.
